Commitment Ceremonies

For those couples who either choose not to marry or, for legal reasons, are unable to marry, family and friends can bear witness to their  union as a couple by way of a Commitment Ceremony. Together we can create a ceremony that is uniquely yours and reflects the values and beliefs of you and your partner. The format and preparation is very similar to that of a wedding ceremony, but without the legal obligations.

Namings

Name-giving is a centuries old tradition, celebrated in many cultures across the world.  It is a joyful celebration of a new life and formally welcomes your child into the loving circle of family and friends. As with all civil ceremonies, you can celebrate the occasion wherever you choose…at home, the beach, parks and gardens etc., You may also want to consider other ideas such as a candle ceremony, specially written wish cards, planting a tree or anything else that adds special meaning to your child’s day. There may be certain cultural traditions which you would like to include….the choice is yours.

Renewal of Vows

Renewing your vows commemorates your journey through life together…it looks back on what has been, and what is yet to come .With elements similar to that of a wedding ceremony, reaffirmation of your vows is a celebration of your love and dedication to each other. You may want to involve your children, grandchildren or close friends… I can provide ideas for readings and/or poems, but however you choose to celebrate and what format you choose, is entirely up to you.
